LBM- sensations- Happy

We were given 6 different sensations to recreate using an object, but we were not allowed to use words. For this one I used 2 different coloured balloons and held them up against the sky facing the sun, so the light shines through the balloon to create a bright and happy sensation. The blue compliments the pink and yellow, and this creates a vivid atmosphere.

 

3DD- Building a bridge

Our task was to build a bridge from one table to another by using a certain amount of cardboard and sticks. As a team we shared ideas and thoughts towards the final outcome. We thought about the shape and structure of the bridge, and how we were going to attached everything together. When we began making it; We all worked as a team on certain parts of the bridge; some were cutting out the cardboard whilst others were attaching the sticks together. I was surprised as I didn't think the process was going to be that difficult; but working in a team made the task simpler and quicker. 

I took a close up of this to show the process of how I attached the end of the stick to some cardboard with tape; This made the structure much stronger. 

This is another image of the structure coming together. 2 members of the team were helping to attach the sticks together to form a firm bridge along the top.  

3DD- Paper bridges

Here are 3 different paper bridges I have created. These were all done by memory so I hadn't thought about how I was going to make them as we had to begin creating  them straight away. My first design on the far left was very simple, and took me a very short amount of time to make. Whereas the one on the right took me the longest time, and is a more complex design. 

Here is a close up of my design. I folded two pieces of paper into a triangle shape on either side, then attached a folded sheet of paper in the middle which creates a fan effect. 

Fashion- final piece

I produced my fashion piece from paper, cardboard and material. I drew many sketches and created a moodboard before I came up with a creative design. What I like about my design is that I have used various paper techniques such as paper tubes for the flower placed on the chest, and the fan technique on the shoulders and lower back. I could have improved it by adding colour to match my colourful mood board. 

Fashion- collaging

 

Here are two designs I have created on top of printed images of a model. I conducted research of various clothing in magazines, and from this I produced a colourful and vivid moodboard in my sketchbook. I used these designs as inspiration for the collages shown above. I used 3 different colour schemes which complement each other especially the blue and pink. I wanted to convey a colourful and feminine theme.

For these designs I was influenced by pop art. I think they look contemporary, and quite unusual because of the various shapes and colours. 

3DD- sculpture building

For this task we had to glue spaghetti together using a glue gun, to produce a sculpture which holds 3 balls. For my development, I drew various ideas on how to hold 3 balls in different corners without them touching; I felt this helped me gain an insight on how to build my structure. Furthermore, we carried out quick drawing exercises which helped with our drawing techniques, and how to create abstract pieces. I felt that I was free to express myself by drawing with different techniques such as continuous line. The drawing I created with my eyes closed came out to be quite successful as I was able to place 3 balls in different areas which could be held without falling.

I began to build my sculpture in a triangular way; I felt that this was the best way to start building it, as the spaghetti would firmly hold together.

As I began to build the sculpture, I thought about the structure, and how the balls were going to sit in between the spaghetti. I did have difficulty at times when trying to glue the pieces together, as they'd fall apart, then i'd have to glue them back together. 

This is the completed sculpture. It turned out to be a successful piece, as it was able to hold 3 balls, and the spaghetti held together. I placed a small figure of a person on the sculpture to get an idea of the scale of it.   

I took another image with a small figure, from a low perspective. This gives the sculpture more height; I placed a light from an angle to give my sculpture a dramatic effect.

After accomplishing the first task, the second was to make our sculptures as tall as possible and to be able to hold a ball on the highest point. So I carried on building my piece until I got to the highest point possible. My piece seems very delicate as it has been built with a single line of spaghetti for each side. After building this, I was able hold 5 or more balls on it. I was proud of this piece because of the unusual structure, and it won for being the tallest. Placing the sculpture on a white background and floor made it more contrasting and effective to look at.

3DD- Birthday

 

Here I have listed all the things I was given for my birthday since 7 years old. It was quite difficult remembering everything, but I enjoyed this task as I was able to be express my thoughts in a colourful way. By using watercolour, I was able to create an unusual effect.  

We then had to cut into the A2 sheet of paper, and hang it onto string. I placed mine in a way so that you can see the writing and bright colours. I cut certain parts out at the bottom to create a dripping effect. It was fascinating seeing everyone's work being hung, as it seemed like a forest full of wonderful creations.
