LBM- Utopia-Dystopia

This was a short video clip I created with my group of Utopia to dystopia. We shared many ideas and drew a few sketches down to show the development of the final piece. All of the research was gathered and collected from a magazine we flipped through which had images of Utopia and dystopia. Each member of the group worked on various aspects of the piece. Inas drew the girl, whilst the rest of us collected the Utopia and Dystopia images.
The idea behind this was a girl being in paradise, and is satisfied about life, but this slowly changes as darkness falls on her; We have showed this by including a daunting background and ripped pieces of paper thrown on her face, followed by various spiders and scribbles all over her. To end this in a very unpleasant manner, her face has been ripped in half.

LBM- transformation

This is a short clip of a transformation; changing from one person's shoes to the other. By making this video stand out, one person from my group (Sarah) filmed this from a low perspective. She cleverly used different effects such as close ups and the transformation from 2 different people. We filmed this outside as the lighting was stronger, and the space was clear in the background. It seems as if this clip has been shot from a movie because of the clarity of the video, and the angle it has been taken in. https://vimeo.com/187031352

Lens based media- 20 second video

Our task was to create a 20 second video of a situation that goes wrong, then having to overcome it. My group thought carefully about the location of where the film was going to be set, and the plot of the story. Our idea was to film a girl (Inas) sitting at a table struggling to make an origami piece. We attached our lanyards together across 2 TVs and hung the phone from the lanyards to get a birds eye view of the video. I thought this was a clever idea as it was the best way to keep the phone as still as possible, and you could only focus on what was meant to be included in the video; there were no distractions.
As the video begun, Inas watched a tutorial of how to make an origami piece; She loses her patience, and gets stressed. As she sips a cup of water, it spills all over the origami; Then she completely gives up as she has destroyed her piece. To make the video more tense I think we should have included a spot light facing Inas making the origami; The lighting was too subtle.
Inas stayed in role, which made the video most interesting. Some aspects of it was funny, when she blasphemed, but also shocking when she spat the water. as you wouldn't expect it to happen.

LBM- lines and patterns

I found this building very interesting because of the continuous pattern of lines surrounding it. The lines In the middle of the building seem more compact and close together than the ones above and below. This image makes me feel as though I am trapped as it's surrounded by lines; it seems like a prison. You can just about see the sky along the top, and this makes you want to break free.

Here is another image I took of lines crossing each other; I changed the colour of the sky to purple as I wanted to convey a tranquil atmosphere. I enjoy manipulating images on photo shop to make them seem abstract and surreal. The lines in the image seem endless as they carry on off the frame of the photo.

LBM- sensation- Sad

This is an image I took in my garden, of a small coloured plant in the centre of a black and white background. I did this to convey an isolated atmosphere, as the plant has been placed away from everything else. You can also see that on the right hand side of the plant is drooping; This suggests distress and despair. You can relate to this image as it reflects your feelings when you are sad or depressed.

LBM- sensations- crush

I have taken an image of my hand crushing some leaves I collected from my garden. The image has been changed to black and white to create a daunting effect. The natural light which casts on the hand works well as it gives the image a striking atmosphere; it stands out the most. One issue that may occur are the leaves as you can't really recognise what they are; they seem very abstract. I could have improved this image by leaving the crushed leaves in colour and the rest of the picture black and white; this way it would be easier to distinguish the image.

LBM- sensations- Happy

We were given 6 different sensations to recreate using an object, but we were not allowed to use words. For this one I used 2 different coloured balloons and held them up against the sky facing the sun, so the light shines through the balloon to create a bright and happy sensation. The blue compliments the pink and yellow, and this creates a vivid atmosphere.

3DD- Building a bridge

Our task was to build a bridge from one table to another by using a certain amount of cardboard and sticks. As a team we shared ideas and thoughts towards the final outcome. We thought about the shape and structure of the bridge, and how we were going to attached everything together. When we began making it; We all worked as a team on certain parts of the bridge; some were cutting out the cardboard whilst others were attaching the sticks together. I was surprised as I didn't think the process was going to be that difficult; but working in a team made the task simpler and quicker.

I took a close up of this to show the process of how I attached the end of the stick to some cardboard with tape; This made the structure much stronger.

This is another image of the structure coming together. 2 members of the team were helping to attach the sticks together to form a firm bridge along the top.
